It's time for our 6th annual Summer Language Academy!

TEACHING RELEVANT LANGUAGE TO 21ST CENTURY LEARNERS: USING CONNECTIONS TO EMPOWER AND MOTIVATE

The 2018 Arkansas Foreign Language Teacher of the Year, Melanie Maldonado will be presenting with University of Arkansas at Little Rock professor Rosalie Cheatham.

Let's explore the power of connections! How do we assist our learners in making relevant and meaningful connections that will keep them not only engaged in the classroom, but motivated to be lifelong language learners that are equipped to use their language in a profession of their choosing, handle new challenges, and navigate unique cultural situations? Together, we will explore this question and various methods of answering it.

Summer Language Academy is a 2-day, 12-hour workshop, designed to be an interactive professional development experience for World Language teachers. This is a great, local opportunity to continue your professional growth this summer while you learn about pedagogy and practices in your own content area.
